Biography

Bashar holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Biomedical Engineering. He is passionate about Point-of-Care diagnostic devices and has over 5 years research experience in developing microfluidic platforms for biosensing applications. His PhD work included developing a lab-on-a-chip platform for discriminating virally infected cells utilizing Dielectrophoresis. During his postdoctoral research fellowship at the Center for Innovation in Medical Engineering (CIME), he conducted research on carbon MEMS/NEMS. He is expert in several microfabrication techniques including photolithography, electrospinning and CNC micromachining. His research passion in the field of BioMEMS has allowed him to publish various articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. After the MIF program Bashar went on to complete his P.Eng. designation and is now an Integration Scientist at Kenota Health.
