Biography

A three-time graduate of Western University, Jacob holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering. His doctoral work was conducted at the Hand and Upper Limb Centre’s Bioengineering lab; where he focused on the design and assessment of stemless implants for shoulder arthroplasty. He has received several honors including NSERC and OGS scholarships, as well as the Western and Canadian Society of Mechanical Engineers Gold Medal awards for graduating at the top of his undergraduate class and demonstrating outstanding achievement in mechanical engineering. His research interests include the design and assessment of biomedical and mechanical systems through the application of the finite element method. Though he is pursuing an academic career, he also has a passion for device design and entrepreneurship. After the MIF, Jacob went on to join Western University as a Mitacs Accelerate postdoctoral fellow and is now an Assistant Professor.
