Biography

Martin Smith completed his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Waterloo. Martin brings experience from research and business development into the medical innovation fellowship. As a researcher, he is passionate about understanding the fundamental biochemical pathways that govern our body during neurodegeneration and cancer. Martin has work experience in commercialization as tech transfer professional at OBI and UHN and has contributed to development and strategical planning of new commercial opportunities for early stage technologies emerging from Toronto hospitals. Throughout the program he will work with fellow entrepreneurs and physicians to close the gap between market and innovation.

After completing the MIF program, Martin went onto become a Business Commercialization Analyst and Strategy Development Director at Alimentiv in London, ON where he identifies new opportunities in IBD clinical trials.
