Biography

Specializing in Biomedical Engineering through the University of Toronto’s Engineering Science Program, Maryanne later obtained her medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, with further training in obstetrics and gynaecology. While working clinically, she continued to draw on her interest and expertise in both medicine and engineering. Her projects ranged from lab-based work using gene therapy to develop Collagen-based Scaffolds for use in bone tissue engineering, to clinical audits in local hospitals for guideline development and quality improvement. She believes that innovation is key in a rapidly advancing medical field.
