Biography

Dr. Samaneh Baghbani is a medical doctor with an engineering background and a great enthusiasm for neuroscience. Dr. Baghbani completed her medical education at Tehran Azad Medical University and received her medical license from Iran. During her medical school years in Iran, she developed a rehabilitation device for spinal cord injuries and called it “Neurocycle”. Later on, this technology was transferred to Canada for further research.

In 2014, she moved to Canada where she formed the Neurocycle business team at the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba. The Neurocycle team successfully completed the market research and developed a promising business plan. It was also at this time that Dr. Baghbani started her master of science in biomedical engineering at the University of Manitoba. During her master’s program, she learned about Electroencephalogram (EEG) readings as well as biomedical instrumentation and signal processing. Dr. Baghbani is excited about combining her engineering and medical skills in order to identify medical challenges and come up with proper solutions to them. After completing the fellowship, Samaneh went on to complete a family medicine residency at the University of Manitoba and now practices as a family physician.
