Fellowship alumnus appointed General Manager (Interim) of the AMIC at Mohawk College

Sherif Abdou completed the Medical Innovation Fellowship in 2021. An experienced entrepreneur and academic researcher, Abdou has over twenty years of professional, research and teaching experience within a wide range of industries including medrech, aquaculture and automotive industries. Before joining Mohawk, Sherif co-founded FloNergia Inc., a company specializing in innovative pumping/aeration technologies for different applications and founded SmartPerceptions, a business that helps other businesses adopt and utilize numerical modelling in their product design and development process.

Abdou holds a PhD and MASc in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University as well as a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Ain Shams University (Cairo).

Abdou has been appointed Interim General Manager of the Additive Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC), which is part of IDEAWORKS, Mohawk’s active hub of applied research and innovation. A leading research centre in metal additive manufacturing, the AMIC provides designers and manufacturers with a collaborative applied research environment in which to explore the technology on an industrial scale. The Centre’s focus is on supporting industrial adoption of advanced manufacturing and industry 4.0 technologies for increased efficiency and better product design.
